Web design and UX

Web design image of our client's website

It’s no secret that the first thing a visitor notices on a website is its design. The look of the page plays a big part in building the client’s trust (see Paula Suurmaa). If the design looks like exactly the minimum effort was put in—and no more—the same impression may extend to your services.

Consistent style

For a consistent style, larger companies usually have a brand book or CVI (corporate visual identity) that defines all brand fonts, colours, logos and more. Following the CVI, websites, social ads, posters, business cards and the like are created. But that’s not all that makes up a single site’s design. What sets professional design apart from average design is attention to detail: the spacing of every element, size and layout, colour harmony, and text readability on image backgrounds. It may seem trivial, but visitors subconsciously judge how professional a site is from these small details.

Colours

Colour theory looks at how colours affect client behaviour and the company’s image (source: airfleet.co). Here are colours and their subconscious associations:

Warm tones, e.g. red, orange, yellow — mood: energetic, eye-catching, passionate. Use on: buttons and standout elements to create excitement.

Cool tones, e.g. blue, green, purple — mood: professional, calm, trustworthy. Use for: conveying brand trust and stability.

All major global brands use colour theory, such as Ralph Lauren (signature green on their products) and Coca Cola (bold red). But one colour certainly doesn’t fit every brand. The palette depends on the brand’s product or service. People can perceive colours differently depending on context, age, culture and more.

Web trends

The 2026 web design landscape is marked by a balance between technological innovation and human-centred design, with a focus on Bento-grid-style layouts and interactive 3D elements. Strict minimalism is giving way to soft organic shapes, micro-animations and so-called “cute-alism”, which combines playful details with strong typography.

Design by type of business

Not every website suits the trends above. A trustworthy dental clinic site, for example, should be clean and draw as little attention to the design as possible. Bolder, eye-catching design is better suited to product showcases or personal brand sites.
